Millionaire's Bacon

Savory, salty, sweet, spicy … need I say more?

Ingredients:

Bacon

Soy sauce

Chinese five spice (cinnamon, cloves, fennel, star anise, peppercorns)

Brown sugar

Red pepper flakes

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F.

  2. Cover a baking sheet with tin foil (you’ll thank me later).

  3. Lay the strips of bacon down on the sheet -as many as you want … this is obviously a very exact recipe.

  4. Mix together the soy sauce and some Chinese five spice. I usually use a ratio of about 1/4 soy sauce to 1 tsp of spice.

  5. Spoon the mixture over the bacon.

  6. Mix the brown sugar and red pepper flakes. I usually use a ratio of about a 1/2 cup sugar to 5 shakes of the red pepper flakes.

  7. Pack that sugar mixture on the bacon.

  8. Bake on a top shelf of the oven for about 10 minutes or until bacon looks cooked (like not raw but I don’t judge how you like your bacon cooked).

  9. Let cool for a little bit (the sugar will be like boiling hot). Don’t let cool for too long or you won’t be able to scrape the bacon off the sheet though (but you won’t want to wait to try this deliciousness anyways).
