Clams

This isn’t a true recipe, but everyone should know how to cook clams and avoid food poisoning. Make sure to get these fresh and cook them immediately.

Directions:

  1. Soak the clams in water.

  2. Use a little brush to scrub the clams under running water. Clams are covered in sand that you don’t want to eat.

  3. Heat up whatever sauce you are cooking the clams in in a pan. Most times the sauce is butter, garlic, and white wine.

  4. Place the clams in a single layer in the pan and cover with a lid to steam.

  5. Steam for about 6 minutes. If they open, move them out of the sauce. If they don’t open, keep steaming them for another 2 minutes. If they still don’t open, throw them out.

If clams don’t open when steamed, that means that they were already dead and you don’t want to eat that.
